Film Commission Region Ulm
Filmmakers are the city of Ulm, economic development and is supported by
the MFG Medien- und Filmgesellschaft Baden Württemberg.
We support filmmakers and production companies with contacts and information about production structures, service providers, approval procedures and locations.
The area includes the regions of Ulm and Neu-Ulm.
The region is not only directly linked to the history of film through Carl Laemmle. Laemmle, who was born in Laupheim, emigrated to the USA in 1884, founded the production company Universal Pictures in 1910 and became one of the most influential film producers.
Half a century later, the first West German film school of the post-war period was founded in Ulm in 1963: the Institute for Film Design, the film department of the University of Design (HfG). From there, the lecturers Edgar Reitz and Alexander Kluge made the auteur film popular in Germany. Today, young talents are trained in acting, directing and dramaturgy at the Academy for Performing Arts (adk) Ulm.
